Get Your Foggy Headlights Restored Making Your Car Look Newer, and Improve Your Nightime Visibility

Do your headlights look foggy or hazy?  Do they not seem to be shinning as bright as they used to? Don't replace them just yet!

It is a common misconception that the fog and haze is inside of the headlight.  It is actually on the outside and we will need to sand them down to get your headlight looking brand new.

Our Headlight Restoration Process

We do not just use the typical "Headlight Restoration Kit" in the auto store.  We use a 6-step process to ensure we get the best results.

1. Start sanding headlight with 800 grit

The first round is used to remove the oxidation.

2. Sand headlight with 1,000 grit

As we move up the process, there will be less oxidation to remove.  The focus now is to refine the sanding marks.

3. Sand headlight with 1,500 grit

This is when you will really start to see a difference in the clarity of the headlights.

4. Sand headlights with 2,500 grit

Remove previous steps sanding marks

5. Sand headlights with 3,000 grit

This is the final sanding step. The headlight is looking much clearer

6. Compound, Polish and Protect

Using a cutting disc, compound, and machine polisher, we'll remove the sanding marks. Finally, we'll refine the cutting step to bring out maximum clarity with a light polish and polishing pad. For protection, we'll apply a 1-year ceramic coating. This will provide durable protection.

The foggy look on your headlights is due to oxidation on the clear coat. We sand the headlights down to remove  that layer of oxidation making your headlights clear again.  We then finish by applying a ceramic coating to protect your headlights and keep them looking fresh.

Headlight Restoration FAQ

Do you come to me?

We sure do!  We have a mobile detailing unit self-contained with everything we need to get the job done.   Depending ion how far you are, we may require you to pair this service up with another service such as our Premium wash or Wash and Wax.  We travel all around the Charlotte area.  We also travel to some surrounding areas such as Huntersville, Mathews, Gastonia, Concord, Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Mint Hill, Indain Trail, Wesely Chapel, Weddington and more.

How long does this service take?

The time will vary based on the size and condition of the headlights but generally speaking, it should take between 45-90 minutes.  If the condition is severely bad it may take longer.

Can any headlight be restored?

This all depends on the condition.  Most headlights will be able to be restored to that brand-new look, but some may be in too bad of a condition to get back to looking clear.

Why do my lens get ugly?

Your headlights, just like your paint, have a clear coat on them. As the suns beats on it week after week, the clear coat starts to deteriorate. Eventually what was the clear coat turns into an ugly yellow layer gunk

How do I keep my headlight from getting foggy?

Since we do apply a 1-year ceramic coating to your headlights, they will be protected for some time.  It is still good to apply some kind of wax or sealant to keep them protected from the harsh weather in Charlotte.
