What's a Ceramic Coating?

In the past, the best and most common protection used for vehicles was waxes and sealants. But now, the most effective protection comes from ceramic coatings and Paint Protection Film.

Ceramic coatings, unlike conventional waxes, are a semi-permanent liquid that requires paint correction before applying. The chemical polymer solution creates a protective layer against bird droppings, rain, dirt, UV rays, and various other elements.

Consider traditional wax as an umbrella sheltering you in a rainstorm. In contrast, ceramic coating is like having a sturdy roof over your head.  Despite both offering protection from rain and debris, they differ significantly in their level of durability and long-lasting defense.  If you want to upgrade your car, we also offer window tint.

Why Should You Get A Ceramic Coating?

Many different Ceramic coating companies will make big claims about what their coatings can do.  Some of their claims are true but we do not want you to be misled.

So here are some benefits you actually get with a coating:

  • One of the most durable forms of protection lasting 3-9 years

  • You only need to apply it once and will not need to keep reapplying waxes and sealants that only last 3 months

  • Provides a very deep level of gloss that’s incomparable to other forms of protection like wax or sealant

  • Provides unparalleled hydrophobic properties that make your car easier to wash and keep it clean

Before we apply the coating, your vehicle must be properly prepped with one of our paint correction services. You will not get all the benefits of the coating if you do not properly prep the vehicle.

That’s the difference of a professional ceramic coating installer. Additionally, if it’s not installed properly, your vehicle won't receive all of the benefits and you’ll see a ton of smudges across your vehicle.

This is what we like to call “high spots”. You’ll see this when the coating was not properly applied and it was left to dry for too long without wiping off.  The more durable the coating is, the harder it is to install.  A 9-year coating is much harder to apply than a 1 or 3 year coating.

Understanding weather variables is essential as they can have a substantial impact on the installation process. Various coatings respond differently to factors such as humidity, cold temperatures, and heat.

Myths About Ceramic Coatings

Ceramic coatings are very durable and last a long time.  But that does not mean your vehicle is protected from everything.

The ceramic coating has its limits, and it's important to know what it can handle. Sometimes, customers expect too much in terms of protection and end up disappointed when they see swirls or marks on the paint.

The coating does not protect from scratches.  When we say the coating protects against light scratches, we mean really small ones that might happen when you wash or dry your vehicle properly.

Just remember, using a dirty wash mitt or dragging your hand or leg on the paint can still cause scratches.

The coating will not protect your paint from rock chips.

The only effective choice to shield your paint from rock chips is paint protection film (PPF).

No matter how many layers of protection, be it wax or ceramic coating, you apply, they can't prevent the impact of a rock from hitting your vehicle.

The coating requires maintenance to prolong its durability. Similar to many aspects of life, if you neglect the coating, it will deteriorate over time and won't endure as long as it's meant to.

You have to properly wash, dry, and enhance the coating to ensure maximum durability. If not properly cared for, a coating designed to last for 6 years may begin to deteriorate as early as year 3.

Ceramic Coating FAQ

Are Ceramic Coatings Worth It?

Ceramic coating is a great investment that protects your vehicle, keeps it shiny for a long time, and makes maintenance easier. It can also increase the resale value, ensuring your vehicle looks new for years.

Can I get only the Ceramic Coating?

Most likely, no, because without the proper prep work, which would be the paint correction, you won't experience the full benefits of the coating. Skipping the necessary preparation will diminish the results and the expected level of protection.

Can I wash my car after the coating is installed?

After applying the coating, it's essential to keep the vehicle dry for the initial 48 hours for complete curing. Following this period, we recommend refraining from washing the vehicle for the first two weeks. The first wash after the ceramic coating application is on us, allowing us to assess how well the coating is holding up.

How can I maintain the the vehicle after a Ceramic Coating?

You can maintain the vehicle with our maintenance plans where we perform a Premium Wash at a discounted rate to keep the looks of your vehicle the best.  We do not recommend going through drive thru car washes as it may hurt the coating.
